1. Don’t smoke or quit smoking

You probably  know that smoking increases the risk of lung cancer. But this is not the only disease it can cause.

2. Exercise to breathe stronger

Besides avoiding smoking, regular exercise is probably the most important thing you can do for  your lung health.Just as exercise keeps your body healthy, it also keeps your lungs healthy.

3. Avoid exposure to pollutants

Exposure to airborne pollutants  can damage the lungs and accelerate the aging process. When you are young and healthy, your lungs can easily fight off these toxins. However, as they age,  they lose some of this resistance and become more susceptible to infection and disease.

4. Prevent infections

Infections can be especially dangerous for your lungs, especially as you get older. People with lung diseases such as COPD are  at particular risk of infection, also known as pneumonia. Even healthy older adults can easily get pneumonia if  not careful.

5.Breathe deeply

If you’re like many people, you breathe shallowly from your chest  using only a small portion of your lungs. Deep breathing helps clear the lungs and creates complete oxygen exchange.
